Nancy was a dear friend and neighbour who shared so many interests with my family and I. She was always making the best of things and had an incredible ability to see the humour in life, making me see it too, laughing over simple island life. I can't look across the field without seeing her there, lovingly caring for the strawberries, roses, fruits and vegetables. Or walking over with what seemed like a bushel of fresh corn to cook up right away, I actually had to have the water boiling before she got to my house. My kids loved that! She imbued herself here in the garden and land and trees, with an artist's vision of the natural world. She shared her love of travel and inspired me to do the same when I am able. I will miss her wise counsel so much. She was the kind of person who always knew how and when to do the right thing with grace and heart and generosity.
